In the Bible: "KEEP: it ALWAYS means KEEP"

It seems obvious that Keep means Keep

so …
This book is Surprisingly Necessary

It is necessary to settle this in our minds
because over 250 times in our Bibles we see “obey” instead of “keep”.

Every Bible reader makes this error.

Uneditted Comments from a reader:

Thank you for writing this book!
Your careful treatment of scripture is deeply appreciated, and a gift for all who endeavor to live in accordance with scripture, and to advance the cause of Christ.

After reading the book, I see that the pattern of "Hear-Keep-Obey" is clearly presented throughout scripture, yet clearly MISSED by so many, including myself!

Our tendency to go directly from hear to obey shortchanges the critical step of keeping. Thanks for surfacing this essential truth. Mike

but …
Keep Never Means Obey

Here is how to understand Keep:

Keep Cover Subtitle

The Bible teaches us to “Keep God’s commandments like a bank keeps our money”
… or better than the bank keeps money.

This is Surprisingly Difficult

because we see obey in so many Bible verses
… without intending to and without thinking.

We “mis-read” keep automatically.

This book focuses on the word “Keep”

Keep Book Cover

!Keep makes sense as Keep!
Every time the Bible uses it! … Every Time!

we never need to read “obey”

Keep is more than a mental understanding.
Keep is more than accurately seeing the meaning of a word.

Keep is the primary way we relate to each commandment that God quickens to us.

We may need to act … now, or it may be later,
… but we immediately keep God's commandment … in our hearts and minds … immediately
and we always keep them deeply as a part of us … always
before and during and after our obedience,
keeping God's commandments establishes our doing.

The Bible"s Process:
Hear - Keep - Obey

In the Bible, we Keep in order to Obey

Keeping God’s commandments encourages obedience in allowing us to learn better how, why and when to Obey them.

First:Keep Then:Obey

Even if it takes some time to “get it”,
all of God's kids will find this realization very helpful.
